Here's my brother's response:

Norton has an excellent track record for finding and especially removing
viruses. However, I have also found Norton to suck the performance right out
of a computer (McAfee is no better).



I am running NOD32 (www.eset.com) on some of my lab machines, and it is
performing well.



I have not used Avast.
