Going Back to Outlook 2002
You need a machine with Outlook 2003 in order to convert from using a new
PST file format (nicknamed Unicode) to one that is compatible with previous
versions (nicknamed ANSI).
Here is a brief example...
1) Start Outlook 2003
2) Select File New Outlook Data File Create a Outlook 97/2002 Personal
Folders file
3) Copy items from the Office Outlook Personal Folders file to the Outlook
97/2002 file type
4) When finished, right click on Personal Folders and select
Close/Disconnect
5) Close Outlook
6) Uninstall Office 2003
7) Install Office XP (2002)
8) Go to mail applet in control panel and create a new mail profile (do not
copy any of the existing ones that where touched by Outlook 2003)
9) Delete any mail profile that was created/touched by Outlook 2003
10) Start Outlook 2002
11) Now you can open/import the Outlook 97/2002 Personal Folders file
created in step #2

I purchased a new computer, preloaded with a trial version of Office 2003.
I
used it for the 90 days, but decided to revert back to 2002. How can I
retrieve all my folders set up in 2003? I tried to import, but recieved an
error that stated my version was not compatible. I also tried another
method
that ask me to select the option of chosing "97,98,...,2002, but that
option
was not available. I have since reverted to using Outlook express, due to
errors while trying to "downgrade" to 2002. Any assistance would be
greatly
appreciated.
