Forwarding an embedded picture
The problem here is forwarding an e-mail that has been received as a forward
itself and has an embedded picture. I got into this because a friend has
been trying to do this and is getting complaints the picture does not get
received. The first thought was that it was a receiving problem. But there
were too many complaints.
I visited the sending system to see first hand what was going on.
What is there is Win XP and because I see tabs in the browser it is running
IE7.
The scenario is that an e-mail containing an embedded picture has been
received after having been forwarded several times. Now this e-mail is to be
forwarded again. A quick look at the file properties shows all the coded jpg
data that indicates that the picture is really there and not needing a
connection to a link somewhere. I tried to simply forward the e-mail to the
owner's own address. Then a quick look at the sent folder to see what was
sent shows the infamous empty box with the red x.
So I tried tack two. Back to the original e-mail. This time I did a select
all and copy, opened a new e-mail and pasted in what had just been copied.
Scrolled down to assure that the picture had been pasted in as planned. It
was there. Tried to send it on and then checked the sent folder and found
that the picture still had not been sent.
What is preventing the picture portion of the e-mail from being sent?
