"From" column is blank
As long as you have another created, and your messages moved, you can delete
the Main Identity.

I know this is a lot of work, but try a third identity and manually enter
the account settings. If you are successful, you can delete the old
Identities in Regedit as well as File | Identities | Manage Identities.

Thanks, Bruce. I'm even worse of than before. Now that I've followed
the backup/clone procedure, the corrupted key(s) is being exported to
the new identities when I create them.
Can oe be thoroughly uninstalled and reinstalled? ie, totally clean
out the registry of all related keys?
