A follow-up to my own post... I found the information at:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm to be quite helpful. I
successfully deleted the defunct mail folder from the listed view
using this methodology (deleting the registry entry associated with
it).
Now... how do I get rid of similarly non-contributing "Personal
Folders" listings which refuse to be closed and give off the "the
operation failed. An object could not be found" error message when I
attempt to right click and close?
Thanks,
Howie

I only seem to be making matters worse... now, in addition to the
closed IMAP email account which insists on maintaining its presence
under the "All Mail Folders" column on the left side of the OL 2003
screen, I find two "Personal Folders" listings below the IMAP account,
and at the bottom of this column, which I can't close or delete
either. Very frustrating...
Help!
