Default Restoring a deleted contact

Thank you for the explanation. I did find the file and restored it to the
CONTACTS folder. Very happy I don't have to re-enter all those names &
addresses.

In Outlook (2003), I have: MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDAR and TASKS.
When I click on MAIL, there is a 'deleted items' folder, but that
contains only deleted emails.

It will contain ANY item you delete, be it mail, contacts, appointments,
etc.

FYI: Here is how I 'accidentally' deleted the distribution list.
Under CONTACTS, I opened the distribution list in order to remove a
name. When I highlighted the name I wanted to remove, instead of
clicking 'REMOVE', I mistakenly clicked the 'X' in the menu bar.
Puff! My entire distribution list was gone. BTW, I think this is a
flaw in Outlook.

While I'd disagree it's a flaw in Outlook, it is a common error that people
make. However, it does work like any other item. Open any item in Outlook
and click the X on the toolbar. The item will be deleted. A DL is just an
item the same as any other item.
