Default Sending email via Outlook express

Hi all,
Last few weeks when I send email via OE, it goes into outbox and I
receive the error message pop.wanadoo.co.uk, server
smtp.wanadoo.co.uk
,Port25 socket error 10051 Ox800CCCOE
I have checked setting they are ok. If I disable Windows Firewall it
goes out of outbox. Normally it remains for some time then is sent
out
?

I have windows xp sp2 and OE and IE 7 which I have had no problem
with
before Can you help

Socket error 10051 indicates "Network unreachable" as if there were a
network problem, not just a server problem. I assume there was a typo
for the SMTP server name in your post.

Is this a constant problem or an intermittent problem?
Di check the SMTP server name.

Frank,
Thank you and P A Bear for guidance, it appears from his link that many
others have had same problem with Orange. That was a typo error which
is
corrected.
I have removed and installed OE as advised article kb/263837 for xp.
I have made new mail profiles, I tried orangehome first today without
success but have also created new wanadoo profile, which has now worked
today with a number of tests.
This had been going on for some weeks, being rejected by host server
with
error message !
I thought it may have been still using old wanadoo smtp instead of
updating to orange address may have caused it, but apparently not. I
hope
that problem is solved but will find out during the day if it is orange
fault ?

Spoke to soon, stopping in outbox, returning same error message. Surely
this
must be caused by orange server etc !!

Thanks for above which you gave on another email. I now have it
working,for
how long who knows. I removed OE6 again and installed.Still no joy with
sending. So I followed orange help to remove corrupt DBX so I went for
Outbox and renamed and closed OE. Re opened and sent two emails one with a
photo immediately. Was this LUCK ?

If Outbox.dbx was damaged, that should fix it. (You can delete Outbox.old
now.)

Removing/restoring OE isn't necessary and wouldn't have fixed it anyway.
The issue is on your ISP's end, not yours.

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently
perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
