Your headers (Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180) tell us that
you're running outdated and much less-secure versions of OE, IE and
WinXP SP2. Check in at Windows Update ASAP and install all critical
updates. See if the behavior persists after installing the updates
and rebooting.

Also make sure Automatic Updates is enabled.

How to configure and use Automatic Updates in WinXP:

Because I have a lot of domains/email addresses I have to disperse
them over several identities.

When I try to switch between IDs it often takes several attempts to
get the

Any ideas as to what may be the problem ?

Auto update is set to 'on' (and has always been)

If I try to manually update I get errors :

1.Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered
or installed on your computer. To continue:

Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)
Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the
problem

2. If I follow the error resolution route I get the message

When accessing the Update site, you receive the 0x800A01AE error.

Following that page to the knowledgebase says to re-register 7 files
(various wu???.dll) via the regsvr32 instruction.

Having done this I get the same error at (1) above - and just goes
thru the
same loop again

Any ideas ?
