Default Email address not importing

Ok, so we can do this, my problems is that the import is not working as
expected - all of the details with the exception of the email address's and
email name and email type are coming through, however these 3 fields (for
email, email2 and email3) are all blank.

I am not sure why and I get no error or indication from Microsoft as to why
these three fields in particular don't populate.

Your help would be great.

There is no problem importing excel data or access data or csv file into
Outlook. I have done it many times, just use File import and follow the
prompts. You will have to adjust the mapping to agree with your file

Besides the fact that I don't understand why Microsoft makes and releases
a
tool (to this day) that apparently does not work - let's say for the sake
of
the argument I had another spreedsheet with contacts downloaded from yahoo
that I wanted to import into outlook, how would I go about doing this? I
thought (mistakenly) it would be easier to try using outlook to outlook
first.

I'm sorry but microsoft wonder why they get a bad name, why can you export
data "A" and not be able to import it back to the same place you got it
from
using the same tool they supply to do it?

Additionaly, as below the .pst is just not a visable option for me. Any
suggestions about taking the excel or a .csv file into outlook that keeps
the
data would be appreciated.

There are numerous postings on this NG that say NEVER export/import for
Outlook to Outlook as long as you are using same versions of Outlook or
going to a newer version of Outlook. Just copy the pst file and open it
up
on the new installation.

Thanks for being such a supportive member!

I am doing this because I have multiple machines, with different .pst's
which I want to share the data as well as a work machine and webmail I
want
to copy the data to. Exporting the data would seem to be logical and
the
only
data that doesn't import is the email details which seems bizare
seeings
it
is a microsoft function I am using.

Whilst I could copy .pst file and open on other machine etc. etc. the
.pst
is 2gig and the work involved in copying logging in etc, just doesn't
seem
worth while when you have a microsoft function that caters for your
request.

Why would you ever do this? What a perfect way to lose data. Which
apparently you are.

news Hi all,

I have exported my contacts in Outlook 2003 in excel format from one
machine
and tried to import on another using default matching and manual
matching.
All the data seems to come through fine except for the email
address. -
They
are all blank.

Also tried in .CSV (on importing) and this also fails to import the
email
address. - any help?
