Cannot connect to the mail server
You are using AVG's email scanner, which, like the other AV programs, will
muck up OE, such as you are finding out.
You need to disable the email scanning. In many cases, this still doesn't
solve the problem, so you'll need to uninstall AVG, and do a custom
reinstall and do not install the email scanner.
