Deleting outcmd.dat to speed up Outlook2k3-Why?
it should only work the first time you delete it - after that, unless you
make a lot of changes, the file shouldn't change much and therefore,
shouldn't slow things down.
Do you have any add-ins installed that adds toolbars?

I am not sure what you mean by "it should only work once." I realize
that outcmd.dat holds toolbar settings, however without making any
toolbar changes after about a month Outlook slows down. Literally it
takes 45 seconds or more for Outlook to change from one message to the
next (highlite a message and for it to appear in the reading pane).
The first time it happened I deleted outcmd.dat and extend.dat. The
second time I experimented and deleted only extend.dat, but it did not
help anything. I then delete outcmd.dat and it fixed the problem. It
has happend four or more times since January.
I am running an exchange server with this machine storing messages on
the server. It is a laptop. I have other machines that are setup
pop3 and others that also have exchange accounts with messages stored
on the exchange server, but this is the only machine that has this
reoccurring.
I am an information systems engineer with a great understanding of
outlook and exchange. I have reloaded Outlook, changed the account to
exchange account and moved messages from pst to exchange server and
now I am out of ideas. Any ideas would be appreciated. This is
something I am tired of dealing with.
