Import/Export problem with Win XP/Outlook 2003 .pst files
If you had read any of the posts here you would know that you should never
use export to create a PST file. If you exported directly to another drive
you very likely corrupted them. Did you back up your data before you did
this? Have you tried repairing these files with the Inbox Repair Tool? Have
you moved these files to your local hard drive and tried to open them? Note:
Do not touch the import command. Just try to open the files after you move
and repair them.

Helo all,
I have just bought a Vista Home Premium pc (philips freevents LX3000) and
am
using Office 2003.
My problem is this:
While using the same office app' on Win XP Home Ed' SP2 I backed up all my
Outlook 2003 personal folders for both pop3 and IMAP accounts by using
import/export to a .pst file and placed these files on two external hard
drives, just for safety reasons in case one of the external hard drives
would
not work with vista.
Both of the external hard drives and their 'names' are recognised by vista
and I can see and access almost all of the files on both drives. I have
even
been able to change the drive letter of the Vista pc's DVD rewriter from
the
original E:\ to D:\ so that the external hard drives can have the same
drive
letters on both pc's (E and F, rather than D and F on Vista, and E and F
on
XP).
The files that have the problems are the .pst files on both of the
external
drives because when I try to import these .pst files back into their
'original' folders in Outlook 2003 (on the Vista pc) using the same method
I
used to export them (from the XP pc), I get an annoying pop up message
stating that I do not have 'permission' to import these files, with no
explanation that I can understand as to why and what to do to remedy this
problem.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Rob
