Default Importing mail from another computer

Actually it often will because the new installation will very likely have a
data file with the same name. Accordingly, it is essential that this file
never be copied into the default location. Copy it anywhere else and you'll
be fine.

Thanks, but will this not overwrite everything in the receiving computer?

No.

I have managed to get the two outlook files out of synch. I want now
to transfer the messages in the inbox of my laptop to the the inbox
of my PC, but retain all existing messages in my PC's inbox.

Open the file and copy resp. move the mails you want from one into the
other file.
