This is usually caused by scanning e-mail, or an anti-spam program.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

How to troubleshoot error messages that you receive when try to send and
receive e-mail in Outlook and in Outlook Express:

Please post the entire error message, and specify if you have a problem
with
Outlook, or Outlook Express. They are different programs.

Getting this message everytime I try to connect with outlook 6. ISP
says
it
has to be in the outlook progam. Tried troubleshooting and cannot find
answer.
Please help
Thanks

I had that problem at first when I went high speed. It had to do with how
the new account was setup as it wasn't right. I called my ISP and they walked
me through it and it works fine now.
