Default Outlook Express will not stay the default mail handler.

Just a minor annoyance that started recently. Nothing was installed,
and nothing unusual happened. Maybe an automatic update caused the
problem.

Outlook Express will not stay as the default mail handler. I am using
Windows 2000 Professional. I have tried the following:

1. From OE's Tools menu, I clicked Make Default. They do not stay
changed.

2. From Internet Options, I changed the defaults to OE. They do not
stay changed.

3. From run, I registered OE with "/reg".

4. In regedit, I verified that the default is MSOE.DLL.

Thanks in advance for any help!

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm

Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both
IE and OE.

If that isn't enough, see this article:

You might also want to try this:

To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
