Default Why do I keep getting told that outlook.ost is not a offline file?

Go to Control Panel-Mail Icon-Accounts. Remove the Exchange account if you are no longer using it. Install your POP3 or IMAP account.

After furious head scratching, U ARE WRONGO asked:

| Whenever I open Outlook, the Configuring Outlook Accounts window
| opens, and I also get the message "The connection to microsoft
| exchange is unavailable Outlook must be online or connected to
| complete this action."
| When I click OK for this, a Microsoft Exchange window then pops up
| which asks me for the Microsoft Exchange Server, and also for
| "mailbox" with the Check Name button beside it. The information in
| these boxes is from an attempt a long time ago to set up my Web
| Exchange Account with Outlook - but it didn't work, and quite
| frankly, that isn't a big deal for me.
| So, having no other option, I just click OK. (note: Even if I clear
| noth fields, the same following thing happens.) An error message then
| pops up saying "Cannot open your default E-Mail folders. The file
| C:\Users\Khamis\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook/outlook.ost is not a
| offline folder file." When I click OK to this message, Outlook simply
| closes. Help! If I go thtough this process from the Send an E-Mail
| button in word, then at the end, I get the error "Word couldn't send
| Mail because of MAPI failure - "Unspecified Error."
| (P.S. Sorry about the name...)
