Default Searching IMAP messages with Outlook 2007 on Vista

I'm switching from PoP to IMAP access to my email for the automatic
"syncing" of mail no matter what client I use, but most of my access
is from Outlook 2007 on my desktop. Instead of developing an
elaborate filing system, I'd like to rely on the much-improved
searching functionality in OL 2007, but it seems that the search will
only find text when the message body (not just the header) has been
downloaded to the .pst file by OL 2007. Is that correct?

Not here - the Outlook 2007 search facility does search in IMAP folders as
well as the pst folders...

Hmm. It's definely NOT searching the message bodies of IMAP folders
for me, unless I've downloaded them. Is there some setting I'm
missing? Here's how I checked. I display the Header Status or
Offline Status column in the folder view so I can tell whether the
body has been downloaded. Then I read the message in a webmail client
(so I can find body text to search on). Then I return to Outlook and
search on the body text. It doesn't find the message. Then I preview
the message and watch the Header/Offline statuses change. Then I run
the same search again and voila- this time the message is found.

I guess it's ok if the message body must be downloaded so long as I
can do that automatically, but I can't figure out how to make that
work. (See my original post.)
