Default Using send/receive to update mail from server prob

Hi Chad,

For OE I would suggest not including a news server account when checking for
new messages (Send/Receive). New headers can be downloaded when opening a
newsgroup or refreshing a newsgroup. You may not want OE to check for new
newsgroups. This setting is in

OE Tools, Options, General tab.

I'm not sure of the best solution for getting e-mail messages to the mail
app of choice. One option would be to leave messages on the server for a
week or less so that a copy of each e-mail could be delivered to each mail
app. This setting is found on the Advanced properties sheet for a mail
account.

I'm on an XPPSP2 box with this one. Hope I explain well enough. For some
reason , at times, maybe 1/6 of them, when I send an email to my ISP account
that uses OE and Outlook--it will hit whichever was opened first first, when
I go to update my inbox by hitting the Send/Receive button, I get a list of
the newsgroups (MSFT like this one) via the NNTP reader and the progress bar
goes nowhere. The fix is to close OE and wait about a half hour.

Normally, when things are working, hitting the button shows a simple
progress bar and you can see it run immediately and watch the new email
hit the inbox.

I have noticed a little correlation with a problem that sometimes the
process msimn will stay in Task Man process list after I have closed OE from
the taskbar. But often, no matter how many times I reopen OE I can't get
back to normal. Instead I get a list of the newsgroups that are being
"udpated" without any movement at all.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Tia,

Chad Harris
