Default Cannot originate emails from Outlook 2003

I have the same problem and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook three
times to no avail. I keep getting the "The operation failed. An object
could not be found." message. Is there any way to fix this?

I'm not sure if this is related to you using IMAP only or if there is a
damaged installation.
I think that since you can't create a new profile at all it is the latter.
You've tried a repair so now try an uninstall and reinstall. Sometimes that
gets what a repair doesn't.

In the "Mail Setup" dialog box I click "Show Profiles," "General" tab,
"Prompt for a profile to be used," "Add." In the "New Profile" dialog
box I
type "name" for the new profile and click "OK" That's when I get the
above
mentioned, "There was an error locating one of the items needed..." error
message, and the new profile is not created.

When exactly do you get the error message when you try and create a new
profile?

I already tried that, several times. It has no effect whatsoever.

Try repairing the Outlook installation.

Whenever I try to send a new email from outlook 2003 I get an error
message,
"The operation failed. An object could not be found. I read
kb312354
which
suggested creating a new profile. When I try to do so I get another
error
message, "There was an error locating one of the items needed to
complete
this operation. It might have been deleted." This isn't very
helpful
since
it doesn't give me a hint as to WHAT item might have been deleted.

I'm using imap off a local server. Not using Exchange server. My
machine
is running XP pro with all the latest updates. Any assistance would
definitely be appreciated. Thanks.
