Default errior message

Thank you Michael for your help.
Maybe I will try reinstalling Outlook Express.

Have a great weekend!

It's hard to tell what's going on. Something is screwy with the default
mail program.

Perhaps it would help to see the error that you are getting. But you
are using the web interface for posting and I don't think there is
anyway to attach a screen shot using that. You'd have to use OE for
posting.

Short of that can you describe the pop-up error box? Is there any
heading in the pop-up? Any buttons at all?

But you might want to just skip trying to fix the problem and create a
new message first, then click the TO button to select the name from the
address book.

You mention the error
Program C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe
All that is, is the name of the Outlook Express program.
Isn't there any more in the pop-up window, such as a details button?

No that is all that pops up.

Even though you are using Firefox, you should still be able in the
Windows Explorer (or My Computer or My Documents, etc.) to Right
click
on a file and select Send To, Mail Recipient. When you do, do you
get
the same error message as from the address book, a different error
message or does it open a message composition window? If it opens a
message composition window, is it for Outlook Express or another mail
program?

It opens a message composition window. I emailed something to my
sister and
it worked fine.

When I try to do this from my address book as I said that window pops
up and
my email closed on me.

So if I understand you correctly, you open the address book, right
click
a contact then select Action, Send to mail recipient and get an
error
message. Yes. The error message pops up and this is what it says:
Program C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe

It's important to know the Details. When you get "encountered a
problem" message, there is usually a "click here" link to see the
error
report. When you click on the link, it will give a message that
will
list the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. The XXXX and YYYY are
important
to identify the cause and solution. You can ignore the rest of
the
message. No, there was no link.

Also include operating system that you are using and what
specifically
you were doing when the error occurred. I was trying to send an
email I had written. I selected my recipient and that is when the
window popped up.

Do you have similar problems if you try to use a mailto link in a
web
page? Or if you right click a file in Windows Explorer and select
Send
To Mail Recipient? I don't use Explorer. I am using Firefox.

Make sure that Outlook Express is set properly as your default
mail
program: I just did that per your advice. It still did not work.

Also, in Windows XP: Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Set
Program
Access and Defaults, Email

I suspect that there's more to the error message.

How are you accessing the recipients? (e.g. via the TO button
in
the
message composition window, via the contacts pane, via the
address
book
right click, etc.)?

I am accessing the recipients through the address book - right
click.

Can you access the address book directly OK? Yes.
