Is this an OE question? You didn't make that clear.
Is it in Start | Programs | Startup? (Not exactly how you said you did it).
Delete it there.
How about
:
Start | Run and type:
msconfig
Choose the Startup tab and uncheck whatever program you are talking about
there.
If this is an Internet Explorer question:

OS XP, IE6.0 OE6.0 PC 3-½ yrs old
If you have time someday, would you know how I can get rid of a backup
which keeps appearing even though I removed it in ADD/REMOVE. Every day
I have to remove it from Start UP/All programs, right click and delete
it. Then I exit it from my taskbar. It bothers me all the time. The
next day it appears again. I thought maybe it was in the Task bar, looked
in Display and clicked it but didn't see it, saw nothing I understood.
I did write to the Company and to a gentleman that helped me to replace my
backup files, one said they would, the Company "No answer."
I used it back in January, for 30 days and then removed as I said
previously.
I know it's a holiday weekend, so whenever you have time. I'll watch for
your reply.
{I should say, the reason for the backup was a problem with XP SP 2 Home
edition, I had D/L IE 7.0
and I used it for about 5 weeks I guess, when everything started
disappearing or not working. Even my delete key. CD Player didn't work,
Favourites were gone, so many things, I don't remember all.
I tried removing from ADD/Remove and before I called the PC company, it
was nearly finished, it couldn't continue as it said it didn't have a
'eula.ch.ie' I don't remember exactly, but something like that. It's
been awhile. Nobody seemed to know what that window meant.
The company I bought the PC from connected and tried to fix it, they
couldn't, So I had to reinstall XP with their help and of course
everything was wiped out} TIA
