Default Continually getting Program not responding (OE6 SP2 & IE6 SP2)

Patience is a virtue & I'm just about running out .......

For some unknown reason, since the last update I continually get Program not
responding when using IE6 SP2 and OE 6 SP2. I cannot deduce what is causing
it, as the symptoms appear under different circumstances...... anyone
experienced similar and can help me gain some sanity ??????

Most likely cause I think would be I/O hang but an equally likely cause
is a program loop.

When the symptom happens use Task Manager's Processes tab
(or SysInternals Process Explorer), with maximal columns showing
and see what the "hung" process is doing. Process Explorer may be
a better choice since it shows the same info and sometimes can
highlight changes with different colors.

The most likely device to hang which is common to both programs
would be your communications link (e.g. modem or NIC)
which you can test at the time of the hang, e.g. by using XP's
Network Diagnostics tool. There are various ways to start it.
The simplest way for me to describe is switching to a cmd window entering

netsh diag gui

I would set maximal options and then do a scan. See what gets reported.

Good luck
