After you selected the messages you want to apply the command to? ; )

BTW did you try the Help (F1)? There is a separate article about
Combine and Decode which you don't even need to search for.
Just use the Index.


Note: Please do not overtype lines from previous posts.
It makes it difficult to identify if a reply has been made.
Some newsreaders use color coding to show who wrote what
so if you overwrite someone else's line you confound that
mechanism too.

Robert, I thought that Combine and Decode was for combining parts of a large
message that are sent in smaller sections. The problem I was having involved
discreet messages from different senders that were somehow combining on
their own. I think that is why the "Combine and Decode" option remains
grayed out even when the messages are selected.

At any rate, I haven't had the problem since I deleted my Temporary Internet
files, so I'll just have to wait and see if it crops up again. Many thanks
for your responses.
