Reconstructing Outlook
Go back to control panel-mail icon-profiles. Highlight your profile and select properties, then data files. Is the data file shown the one you use? If not, then browse to the one you do use and make it the default.

After furious head scratching, Ignoramus asked:
| I had accidentally deleted my main Outlook (mail) profile from the
| control panel. Now I created a new profile and tried to open the old
| files and settings by simply going to File | Open and pointing to the
| old Outlook.PST file (which is about 500 MB in size). Unfortunately
| nothing seems to happen - there is no disk activity and my old folders
| do not appear.
|
| I understand importing my old Outlook.pst file is not a good idea - so
| what is the best way to use the old data in my new profile?
|
| Could someone perhaps point me to any KB article or other detailed
| instructions?
|
| Thanks
