Default can't access addressbook

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the input.

Well, I did copied to old pst file into the current one. and On the contact
folder, I would see the contacts are there. When I right click on the
folder, I would open the contact in new windows or nagviate pane option

I have checked the following Tools -- email acccount -- View or change
address book which has the address book there and the type is MAPI.

From File -- Folder -- Folder properties for Contacts -- Outlook Address
Book, the box for Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book is tick.

Now my query from your feedback is, if I go ahead with the remove and add
then my old address book will be removed and my contacts will be lost. Am I
not right here. I have not done this yet but would like to someone to
confirm this.

Suppose the above point is valid and if I have a copy of the old pst, would
it be 'reimported' ?

Look forward to your advices.

Hi Smiley,

the "Outlook Addressbook" is not a file or a folder, it is a special
"filter" of your contacts.

Your contacts are stored in a "PST" file.

Search for "PST" files on the old harddisk and open this PST file in
Outlook (File/Open/Personal Folder (PST).

Now you can move/copy the contacts from the old PST file to the new one.

About the error:
"The address list could not be displayed" error message when you use your
Contacts to address a new message in Outlook"

have a look on this site :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319901/en-us

Maybe it helps.

Hi,

I have to reinstall my machine. At present there are two question.
1. how can I reinstate/import the addresses book from the old setup to
the new installation. Where can I find this old address book ? (I still
have the old disk).
2. when I tried to open address book to create new contact name, I
received the following error "the address list could not be displayed.
The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be
opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have
permissions, For information on how to remove this folder from the
Outlook Address Book, see \Microsoft Office Outlook help.". This is a new
installation, why this error. Also I am the only one who logon to this
machine.

Any help appreciated.
