Can't receive e-mails - sometimes
I have had the following problem for some time but it's very haphazard, it
comes and goes. I suddenly find that I am unable to receive my e-mails and I
get the following two messages which refer to both of the methods I log on
to AT&T to send e-mails, both my own broadband system and that which I might
use when I'm travelling. I usually travel quite a lot, but I haven't
travelled much recently, so I can't say if I am having the same problem
anywhere else apart from here at home with my broadband system.

I don't seem to be receiving my e-mails automatically, either, when OE is
running. And when I send e-mails, I get a message back saying 'no new
messages' but it's lying because when I press 'send and receive', I get new
messages.
People say that Virus Protection and Firewalls can upset the sending of
e-mails. According to Windows Security Center, the Firewall is off but Virus
Protection is on. I have AVG anti-virus which is on as is the Resident
Shield. The E-mail scanner is not fully functional.
I do wonder if OE is damaged in some way. How can I find out and repair?
Sorry this is a bit long; easy, simple answers please in words of one
syllable for ageing computer illiterate.
