If the problem has it's anti-virus set to scan e-mail, disable that
option.

(Note: Disabling email scanning does not leave you unprotected against
viruses that are distributed as email attachments)

If you are using an anti-spam program, try disabling that as well.
If you continue have problems, do you get any error message when you
click the Send and Receive button?
