Default Outlook keeps getting email after it's closed

Sorry - it's 2003
and it's still running in Task Manager
it's not showing in the Taskbar - or in the other one over on the right
(WinXP) - sorry but I forgot what that one's called.

When I get the emails at home, it deletes the files from the server, so,
I turn it off in the morning,
so I can see it during the day, when I'm at work.

However, something has recently happened, so that, it keeps getting my
emails at home, even after I've closed it.

I've looked all through the options, but I can't find out where to turn
this feature off.

And that would be WHICH version of Outlook?

If Outlook is truly unloaded (check Task Manager's Processes tab for
outlook.exe) then there is no way an application that is not running could
be yanking e-mails from a mail host and putting them into a local message
store.

Maybe it's about time to change the password used to login to your e-mail
account. Maybe someone hacked in.
