Outlook (and Word) have the nasty habit of not fully unloading when
told to exit. There are various explanations, like plug-ins not
unloading, but I've seen it happen for a fresh install of Windows
and a fresh install of MSOffice. Wait a minute after exiting
Outlook and then kill the rogue outlook.exe process. It shouldn't
happen all the time but it does happen.

Presumably by exiting Outlook you are actually exiting it.
Minimizing it to an icon in the system tray is NOT unloading it
from memory.

I don't minimize - I exit the program totally

And, for a thread hijacker, I care why? How are you (posting from
SWBell) related to Elmo (who posts from RoadRunner)? Different
monikers and different ISPs = different users.
