Default Upgraded to Office 2003 - issues with exchange setup

I am setting up teh client side of exchange in outlook 2003, it asks for an
exchange server name and a username. I put this in and then click on more
settings. IN the more settings there is a security tab with different
authentication settings (drop down list) one setting is basic
authentication, I have to select that. There is another check box that says
use fast connections..... (i can't remember the exact wording as I am not in
fornt of it now but if you open outlook 2003 and try to setup an exchange
acct you will see what I am saying. On another post I am told that in
Windows 2000 you will not have these settings as you cannot do RPC over
HTTPS. I am not sure if that is what I am trying to do. Honestly I am not
very familiar with the exchange SERVER part of the equation as I have really
only setup the client side. Everyone I have setup has been an XP pro
machine with office 2003. This one is Win2000 Pro with Office 2003. I
assumed since they are both using NT technology it could be done.

thanks for your responce!

Define " basic authentication and put in a proxy server as well as use fast
connection options that Outlook 2003 has for exchange connections"

Pretend, well, strike that, KNOW that we cannot look over your shoulder to
see what you are seeing so describe this situation as you would to someone
who is seeing-impaired.

After furious head scratching, Matt Cortner asked:

| I upgraded a Windows 2000 pro machine from Office XP to Office 2003.
| I did this so I could put this client on the exchange server and use
| basic authentication and put in a proxy server as well as use fast
| connection options that Outlook 2003 has for exchange connections.
| My problem is that those options under security tab are not there. I
| uninstalled Office 2003 after that and reinstalled a fresh copy
| making sure there were no lingering office folders in the program
| files before I reinstalled. I did not go through the registry to
| make sure there were no office references though. I assume that is
| my next step, uninstall and then manually go through the registry and
| delete instances of office 2003, then reinstall but how time
| consuming is that. Is there an update or any other means to get the
| options I need to connect to my exchange server using the basic auth
| with fast connection options and entering a proxy server?
|
|
| Thanks in advance for your help!
|
| Sincerely,
|
| Matt
