What is the full text of the error message?

A what point does the error message occur? When you click the send
button in the message composition window? When you click Send and
Receive? Or does an e-mail come back to you in the Inbox with the error
message?

How large is the file? You may be running into a message size limit on
either your mail service or the recipient's mail service?

If you anti-virus is scanning outgoing e-mail, it might be the problem.
