Here are a couple of free spell checkers that you may find
helpful.

You may be able to get around this issue with a copy of
Office 2003. You can install the Proofing tools from the Office
2003 installation CD and it will restore the spell checking
capabilities in Outlook Express.

Office 2007 breaks OE's spell check. Downloading a free spell check is
the simplest way around this.
