Are you using HTML mail format? Auto correct doesn't seem to work in HTML
mail format. It does work when mail format is either Plain Text or Rich
Text.

There is a BUG with the "Auto Correct Feature" in Service Pack 3 for
Office 2003.
If you install the Service Pack 3, the feature will not work any more.

Workaround:
Use "Microsoft Word as your default e-mail editor"

Microsoft has accepted my bug request and they are working around a
hotfix for this problem.
