msimn.exe is not in i386.
msimn.ex_ is in i386.
You can't associate .eml files to msimn.ex_ .
msimn.exe is in C:\Program Files\Outlook Express.
It is a system file, so it is probably hidden.
Save an .eml file to your hard drive.
Right click on the .eml file, Open With, select Outlook Express or Browse to
C:\Program Files\Outlook Express and select msimn.exe.
Check 'Always use this program'.

The .exe file is not in the OE folder but it is running in Task Manager...
I
found it under a folder called i386. I've associated the file with this,
but
when I try to open the .eml file now, it closes the original mail it is
attached to and nothing else happens...

C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\. There is no msimn in the right hand

msimn.exe /is/ Outlook Express.
Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Processes tab. You don't have msimn.exe listed when OE
is
running?
I may be wrong since I have never had an .emf file to open, but from what
I
see in searching, you need one of these programs, just as you need Power
Point Viewer to open a .pps attachment.

I need the missing msimx.exe file? So it will open the attachment with
Outlook Express...

Do you have one of the programs for Windows listed here?
http://www.fileinfo.net/extension/emf
If you do:
Save the attachment to your HDD. Right click on it and Open With |
Choose
Program. Find and choose a program that works and then check the box:
Always
use this program to open this kind of file. This should enable you to
open
these attachments in the future.
If you don't have a program listed, here is the site for IrfanView.
Download IrfanView at:

I have received emails with .emf attachments. I understand that I

missing

my Outlook Express folder. How do I install this missing .exe file?
