Default Emails fail to be received

After downloading all messages using my PC I get this result on my laptop
when I attempt send and receive:
"Checking for new messages on @tuflow gofree@...
Receiving message 1 of 3

Then it just stops like this after the first message appears to have been
received.
I have checked the server and I have no messages on it at all. My PC sends
and receives in OE on the same address, no problem.
I have removed and re-installed OE, no different.
I am lost on this.

If they did not download, then they are on the server. Do you know for sure
that there are messages that are not downloaded? What is telling you this?

They do not appear on the server.
The problem is only on my laptop, my PC receives from the same email
account
- no problem. Any other suggestions please?

Go to your mail server's Website and read them and delete them there.
Then,
heed these helpful hints for OE.

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become
corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move
your
mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created
folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while
working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything
until
the compacting is completed.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant
layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such
as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background
and
leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

And backup often.

I have 4 email addresses. On any of them the last 3 emails will not come
in,
no matter how long I wait for the server to receive them.
Sending is no problem.
This is only a problem on my laptop, my PC receives and sends - no
problems.
Please can you help?
