I'll bite and ask a stupid question... you mention that you are trying to
work with POP3 accounts but I see a lot of references to "HTTP MAIL"
accounts that are also failing. Might consider removing all e-mail accounts
from Outlook and just keep the setup simple and try a single POP3 account
setup. Once you get it working, then add other accounts.
What else can we come up with... you really don't mention it, but did your
ISP outsource its e-mail to yahoo or are you trying to get a Yahoo Plus
account working? Reason I ask is that the "free" yahoo accounts don't allow
POP3 access.
Other than that, watch out for 3rd party security software that includes
personal firewall services. You might have to configure said product to
allow the executable "outlook.exe" to have internet access.
And to answer your questions, yes, you can uninstall Office/Outlook 2007 and
fall back to Outlook Express. Heck, you can continue using Outlook Express
even with Outlook 2007 installed.

PS - if you open a command prompt, can you ping pop.mail.yahoo.com and get 4
good responses? If you get an error message or no responses, then check
your internet connection first.
