Thanks Bruce the workaround worked for me. Using XP & upgraded to Office
2007, tried your solution and now I can read my spell checker!

You may be able to get around this issue with a copy of
Office 2003. You can install the Proofing tools from the Office
2003 installation CD and it will restore the spell checking
capabilities in Outlook Express.
