.pst File will not open or import after re-install of software
Why did you export and not simply copy your .pst file?

After furious head scratching, Thomas Byrne asked:
| Due to a virus infection, I had to reinstall all the software on my
| machine.
|
| Using Outlook 2000 in Windows 2000, I exported all of my outlook data
| to a .pst file. After backing up the files, I re-formatted the hard
| drive and installed Windows XP. I've reloaded Outlook 2000 and have
| tried the following to get my outlook information back.
|
| (1) Tried opening the .pst file from Outlook. Received error
| message: "Properties for this service must be defined..." then was
| told the .pst file in not compatible.
|
| (2) Tried importing the .pst file, with the same result.
|
| (3) Made sure the .pst file had read/write. It is not read only.
|
| (4) Have applied all updates to Office 2000 and Windows XP.
|
| (5) Have checked this forum, but have not found anything exactly on
| point. This is the same version of Outlook that I created the .pst
| file in.
|
| Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
|
| Thanks,
| Thomas --
