How long has it been since you compacted your message store folder? How
large are the individual DBX files in your message store folder? It sounds
like a problem with a message store folder that is corrupted.

You say you've confirmed various suggestions from web sites but give us no
clue as to what you may have done. Want to provide some added info so that
we can perhaps be of more help?

Running XP Home SP2. All windows updates on computer. McAfee Virus Scan,
Spybot S & D, Ad-Aware SE, Trend Micro, Windows Defender 2, Registry
