If the error was with inetcomm.dll as you indicated in your reply to Mike,
see this info:
First, try this:
Go to start/Run, and type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll and wait for a notification
of completion. Then reboot and see if it's fixed.
If no help, then try replacing inetcomm.dll as it may be corrupted:
Try a rename of the existing inetcomm.dll to inetcomm.old and then extract a
new copy from the mailnews.cab in your c:\windows update setup files folder.
Extract the copy to your c:\windows\system folder. After that go to
Start/Run ~ type regsvr32 inetcomm.dll and wait for message of completion.
Then reboot and see if the problem is fixed.

Jim I am not sure whay you mean by the Message Store, I do compact the
folders each week. As for checking I have been into the outlook express
site
and verified the downloads have been carried out. Also one other
suggestion
from the Microsoft page was make sure you have XP installed with SP2, plus
all updates this has been done.

How long has it been since you compacted your message store folder? How
large are the individual DBX files in your message store folder? It
sounds
like a problem with a message store folder that is corrupted.
You say you've confirmed various suggestions from web sites but give us
no
clue as to what you may have done. Want to provide some added info so
that
we can perhaps be of more help?
