Default Cannot open new event or save items in default calendar

I've read similiar postings, but rebooting doesn't work for me (well it does,
but only for one save then it's back to not working). Everything works fine
in a newly created calendar though.

When viewing the monthly calendar, nothing happens when I double-click to
open a new event. When viewing a single day's calendar, I can type something
into a time-slot, but when I try to save it it..."cannot save item".
