Hi Fishstick,
This is generally caused by a damaged Folders.dbx file (master index for the
OE message store). Deleting the file will likely fix the problem, but the
folder hierarchy will be affected and subscribed newsgroups will be lost.
This behavior can occur if the Folders.dbx file is missing, damaged, or
using the read-only attribute.
First close Outlook Express.
Rename the Folders.dbx file:
1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
2. In the Named box, type folders.dbx. Include hidden files and
folders for Windows XP.
3. In the Look In box, click your primary hard disk (usually drive
C), and then click Find Now.
4. Right-click the Folders.dbx file, and then click Rename.
5. Type folders.old, and then click OK.
6. Start Outlook Express. This creates a new Folders.dbx file
automatically.
See Inside OE to understand what will occur when Folders.dbx is replaced.

Open the Store Folder Alternative
1.. In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store
Folder.
2.. Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder.
3.. Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end.
4.. Right-click on the text and choose Copy.
5.. In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store
folder.

An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to
highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use Start/Run
and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily
modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options.

Receiving following message upon trying to open OE 6. Tried to fix using MSN
troubleshooting by making a temp file for dbx files. Can't find .dbx files.
Any ideas? I know that I have lots of folders with lots of info if that
matters. Any help would be appreciated.
