Send run continually
Thanks for reply. I do not recall ever changing my intervals from the
default. However, the settings (reached via Tools|Options|Mail
Setup|Send/Receive...) are as follows
Schedule an automatic send/receive every 30 minutes
When Outlook is Offline Scehdule an automatic send/receive every 5
minutes.
I have changes the settings so that both now read 30 minutes.
I still have the problem, but so far as I can tell it seems to occurs when I
send to an (or possibly, some) address(es) taken from my Contacts List. If
I type in the same address manually it seems to be OK. Any thoughts?

What is your Send/Receive interval set for? It should be no less than 10
minutes and preferably over 15.

After furious head scratching, Alan Johnson asked:
| Sometimes when I send an e-mail using Outlook 2007, the application
| appears to try to send the message continually. The Outlook icon in
| the system tray oscillates rapidly between its normal state and an
| e-mail icon, and hovering over it produces the information that
| Outlook is sychronizing files. The only way to stop this process is
| to delete the offending message in the outbox (which sometimes works)
| or to close down Outlook. When I restart Outlook the message is
| still in the outbox, and attempst to send it restart the problem.
|
| I am running Vista 32bit, with Office 2007 and Norton Internet
| security 2007, and am on BT broadband. I have disabled outbound
| e-mail scanning in Norton with no apparent effect.
|
| Attempts to display the Send/Receive Progress box normally produce
| a very brief showing of it, but on occasions when I have managed to
| get it to stay displayed (and I don't know how I did it!), it is
| apparent that the send/receive process is cycling several times per
| second and left unchecked will cycle hundreds of times.
|
| This has happened on 2 or 3 occasions, and although it has cleared
| up between times, it has now returned again.
|
| Canb anyone suggest what may be causing this, or how I can
| diagnose the problem further.
