I agree that it is to easy now just to delete columns. I have to deal
with users that want to sort but accidentally drag the column head
into cyberspace and don't understand where the "Subject" went.

Just tell them to reset their view. It's only a few clicks.

Another nice option would be: Set this column-setting for ALL folders.
