Default Outlook 2007 Locks Up

Oh, ick. There's the problem. Your data file is corrupt. Relying on sync
software to maintain your data is unwise. I trust you back up your data
frequently?

Sorry Russ, my contacts are located on my personal computer. The way the
data
gets to my notebook is I sync my phone with my desktop computer and then
sync
the phone with my notebook having the phone overwrite the notebook.

Thanks for keeping after this Russ.

Hmmm...
So if you entered a new Contact and it appeared correctly, then we know
your
Outlook Address Book Service and profile are OK. That narrows the problem
down to your Contacts Folder which is why I need the answer to rest of my
inquiry.

I did create a new profile with a unique name. I'm not certain what you
mean
by "Does the Outlook Address Book Service appear correctly..." The
address
book does appear on the top tool bar.

I went into Contact Manager and added one contact. This contact showed
up
in
the address book. When I tried to author a new email and clicked on the
To
button the program locked up just as with the other profile.

I have the same program and same address book and contacts on my
notebook
computer and it does not exhibit the problem so I have assumed it must
not
be
a glitch in the .bcm data file.

It is certainly frustrating to have this happen and have no advice
what-so-ever or acknowledgement of the problem from Microsoft. I
noticed
another post today with the same problem.

Thanks again for your assisstance Russ.

When you created the new profile, did you do so from scratch with a
unique
name? Does the Outlook Address Book Service appear correctly in this
profile? Are you running against a local data file or Exchange Server?

Thanks Russ for the suggestion. I created a new profile, but the
same
problem
occurs with the new profile.

Reinstalling won't help a thing. Also, Outlook 2007 retains a bug
that
prevents you from repairing the address service. Creating a new
profile
might help.

For some reason when I try to reply to, forward or create a new
email
when
I
click on the To, cc or bcc buttons Outlook locks up and I have to
go
to
the
Task manager and terminate the program. The same thing happens if
I
try
clicking on the address book in the message window. I can open
the
address
book in the main window of outlook without a problem.

Also if I open a contact group and try to add an existing contact
to
the
group this also locks up the program.

I have tried the repair feature and it finds nothing wrong.

Is there something I can try short of reinstalling the software
which
may
or
may not fix the problem?

Thanks!
