There is a conflict with PPS and XP/SP2. See this link for a fix:

I lost the MS Viewer somehow and had to download another one from the web
back last summer. Now the only way I can view a .pps file is to save it to
my
computer. Then the MS Power Point Viewer will open it.

How can I get the MS viewer to open .pps file attachments in OutLook
