inserting a short cut to a Word doc in Outlook - Contacts\Notes

I have a document on my hard drive and wish to simply create a link
to that file which is then placed in the 'Notes' field of a typical
Outlook Contact. Why is this so difficult to do? There is no 'link'
option for a
specific file, just web pages. If I manage to copy a short cut to
the Notes field, it is blocked as a potentially dangerous file.
(Dangerous file - do not feed?)
It is possible to be able to click on a short cut which would then
open a simple Word doc? _I don't want to copy_ that Word doc to
Notes because it will change from time to time and I do not wish to
update both files. Is this just me ... or is this unnecessarily
difficult?
Try specifying it not as a link but as a URL:
file:///c:\Documents%20and%20Settings\MyName\My%20Document s\MyFile.doc
This works for me.

Brian, thanks for your reply. I went back and looked at the possibilities
for Insert \ Hyperlink \ Existing file or hyperlink.
I must have not looked hard enough initially. That did the trick and was
very easy to accomplish. Apart from having to click through two warings to
see a file on my own hard drive it worked. Sorry to take up your time on
this. All the best, DH
