There's a lot not to understand about the settings and behaviours of
Outlook. Russ knows more than most of us have forgotten about this aspect
of Outook!

Never mind. I found the answer. But here's a philosophical question for
you:
The address book is sorted by first names. Why? Have you ever
alphabetized
a list of names in any way other than by last names? Imagine if the
telephone book was sorted in this manner. I do not understand Microsoft"s
concept here.

What part of your question did I not answer? How could I possibly make it

Russ - I am not trying to pick a fight here. I meant what should I
search
for within the Outlook "contacts" discussion group - what key word
should
I
use?

First, you use a decent Search Engine, which means Google, not
Microsoft:

I entered "Sort Address Book" and got 2430 hits in 0.3 seconds. So now
"countless" has become "counted."

My version is Outlook 2007 (Office 2007). The names are sorted
correctly
in
the folders, but when I use the "To:" in sending email, they are
listed
randomly. If this is a common problem, please advise a search word
to
use
in
looking for "countless posts".

Read one of the countless posts here that tell you how to sort the
Outlook
Address Book view. Be sure to find one that matches your version.
Since
you
did not post your version, we cannot answer you.

I have created & named folders to store email names & addresses in
Outlook.
I have sorted them alphabetically by last name in the "email
display
as"
column. But when I open them when sending email in "to:" they
are
not
in
alphabetical order. What do I need to do?
