Default Problem with opening attached files

TIF is a TAGGED IMAGE FILE. It's a very rich file format and one
preferred by photo professionals.

But because it is a rich file format, it's not surprising that some
programs might use features that others don't support. You might see if
the Corel software has an option to ignore unsupported tags.

As for going JPG, you will lose some image quality compared to TIF. But
depending on your uses, it might not be enough to matter.

You might also want to try this program:
File Viewer/Converter
http://www.irfanview.com/
It might be able to open the TIF and save to a format that Corel will
like.

Thank you indeed Bruce and Michael you both arrived at the same right
solution together, really appreciate your help.

However, I am really going to stretch your altruism to breaking point
now
because switching off the virus protection and being able to receive
and
file this attachment has given rise to a second problem! Sorry guys!

The programme Imaging for Windows will open this large TIF file quite
smartly whereas Corel PhotoPaint will not. I just get a window coming
up
that says "Unsupported Tag Value". Same thing happens when I attempt
to
import it into CorelDraw. So it seems that this particular TIF type is
incompatible with the Corel Protocol?

Well I think I am going to ask the guy sending this very important old
photo
(too important to trust to the post) to send it as a JPG, just like
the rest
of the world. Or get it professionally scanned and post me the disk.

But if you just happen to know the answer as to why CorelDraw likes
most TIF
files but not this one, then I would be most interested in learning
yet more
wisdom.

Thanks Baz

Small problem with opening attached files on OE6. Every kind of
attachment
opens fine except TIF files that are greyed out. Yet I think I have my
extensions against file types set correctly because when I double
click any
Tif file residing on my hard disk the selected programme (in this case
Corel
PhotoPaint) opens immediately displaying that TIF image.

Yet when I take that same TIF file and send an email back to myself,
via my
local server, it is greyed out and cannot open. So I have to admit
defeat.
Can anyone come to my rescue please?

Baz
