Default Outlook 2007 is unable to send email & gives Error 0x800CCC80

Uninstall Norton and re-install it WITHOUT the email scanning service. You
do not need email scanning, it is redundant and only serves to cause email
problems. In spite of what they may tell you, Norton is NOT fully
compatible with Vista and email problems like this are commonplace when
Norton is used. The general consensus is to abandon Norton completely in
favor of an antivirus application that is compatible, such as Avast! or AVG.
Note that even with these compatible programs, the email scanning features
should NOT be installed and used.

I have a new Vista laptop and am trying to get POP3 email working in

Outlook
2007. I can receive email messages but I get the following error when I

try
to send - "None of the authentication methods supportd by this client are
supported by your server" with error code 0x800CCC80. I have Symantec
security installed and have tried disabling it, running the Norton
Connectivity Tool and a host of other things but nothing seems to fix the
problem. I have contacted my ISP but they advise me there is no problem

with
their service and that my email settings are configured correctly. If you
have experieced this problem and have a solution please let me know.

Thanks,
Alan.
